Empowering Women Through Income Generating Projects
Right from its initiation in 2011, KIDA has been at the forefront of women economic empowerment and participation to ensure financial independence and increased income earnings for of women and girls
In 2017 KIDA empowered 40 widows with Quail Farming as an income generating project in Kitabu and improving health benefits of the community through supply of quail eggs, a project that was funded by Melania Development Cooperation
In 2018, KIDA created and registered a rotating savings and credit association for women to save, borrow credit and start their own businesses to help them become financially independent and sustain their needs especially girl child education
53 marginalised women and female heads of families empowered with a revolving piggery project funded by Associated Country Women of the world (ACWW), this improved incomes at household level and livelihoods of women and female headed families
Vocational Skilling
Vocational skilling for women and girls contributes greatly to women economic participation, receiving tools twice from our funder Tools4Change including sewing machines, carpentry tools and welding tools is empowering women to participate and seek for jobs in these industries
Kitabu is located in the higher foothills of Rwenzori Mountains, funded by BeesAbroad and working collaboratively with Liberty Development Foundation (LIDEFO) an apiary project was initiated in mid 2019, beekeeping has been beneficial to the whole community of Kitabu Nyondo, since then more colonies have developed increasing honey harvests, further Bees Abroad Uk sent its representatives to Kitabu who trained KIDA in value addition, like making of candles, jerry, herbal medicine and many others and certificates were awarded to participants

Mushroom Cultivation is a non seasonal source of incomes for rural and urban women. More than 100 women are were trained in indoor mushroom cultivation, an initiative that is an important source of income and provides nutritional benefits to the community
